A young vocalist of the Gwalior Gharana, Parimal Kolhatkar hails from a family with a music tradition. His Grand-uncle Pt. Shankar rao Kolhatkar was a well-renowned exponent of Gwalior Gharana. His Father Shri. Amar Kolhatkar being a Tabla player himself introduced Parimal to Hindustani Classical Music at a very early age and started his Vocal and Tabla training. During his school days, he started his taalim of Gwalior Gharana under guru-shishya parampara from his guru Prof. Subhash Kashalkar. After pursuing rigorous training for over a decade he went to Pune and started his taalim of Gwalior, Jaipur, and Agra Gharana under guru-shishya parampara from his guru Sangeetacharya Pt. Vikas Kashalkar. Parimal’s singing reflects all the brilliant aspects of systematic training : ‘Taalim ka gana’ in the language of all the music connoisseurs. His melodious voice and impressive „Laykaari“ gives immense joy to the listeners.

Parimal’s style is deeply rooted in tradition and always has a feeling of newness in his rendering. His taan patterns have different varieties like saral, vakra, bol-tana, mukhbandi, and so on. He is gifted with a mellifluous and flexible voice and a tremendous ability to make an immediate impact on the audience. Connoisseurs and common listeners enjoy his concerts. His joyous and affable disposition enhances the effectiveness of his music. Parimal has developed his own style of presenting and performing Hindustani Classical Music and has tried to blend all the taalim of difierent gharanas in his gaayaki. He continues his taalim from his guru Pt. Vikas Kashalkar, and has been fortunate to accompany his guru in his concerts. https://www.youtube.com/@ParimalKolhatkar
